Released August 29, 1994. About Definitely Maybe 1 contributor. Oasis had decided that a similar group photograph should be taken in Bonehead’s front living room. I’d already heard the album many times and knew that it was a great challenge to create an image suitable for the cover. I was therefore horrified when I went to recce the room and saw how small and uninspiring it was. The band had assumed that I would take the photograph looking into the room with the bay window as a source of illumination – in other words, the opposite direction to how it finally appeared on the cover.

Maybe all he could muster is a fleeting moment of stardom as he sings in front of a fleet of amps pushing out power chords, or perhaps he'd really become a rock & roll star; all that matters is he makes the leap. This dream echoes throughout Oasis' debut, a record which takes the dreams of its listeners every bit as seriously as those of its creators. Both the artist and audience desire something greater than their surroundings, and that yearning gives Definitely Maybe a restlessness that resonates.

Big Brother Recordings Ltd. By Len Comaratta. But if I’ve said this once, I’ve said it a thousand times: I don’t recall this much fuss when The White Album turned 20. In fact, during my high school years (1985-1989), if the industry was as anniversary crazy as it is today, we would have seen the 20th anniversary of 10 - yes, 10! - Beatles albums

Definitely Maybe is a different animal. Loud, brash, and completely devoid of the cleverness that had critics buzzing about Blur’s Parklife a few months earlier, it sounds like it was recorded one drunken afternoon in the back of pub. Nothing could be further from the truth. Oasis cut the entire album twice, and both times, they were unsatisfied with the results. The hero of this story is mix master Owen Morris, who re-recorded some of Liam’s vocals, punched up Tony McCarroll’s thudding drums, and stripped away Noel’s layers upon layers of extraneous guitar overdubs

Oasis were terrible at being The Biggest Band in the World, but as this 20th anniversary reissue of their first album-a three-disc collection packed with demos and live performances-makes sparklingly clear, they were amazing at wanting to be The Biggest Band in the World. I don’t want get too big," said Noel Gallagher back in 1994, squinting into the crystal ball a couple of months before the release of Oasis' debut album, Definitely Maybe. I'd love to do Wembley Stadium, but where do you go after that?" At the time, the guitarist and songwriter was talking to a fanzine and getting ready to play the lame, 400-capacity East Wing venue in Brighton, England.

Oasis (2). Definitely Maybe ‎(Cass, Album). Helter Skelter, Helter Skelter. Even if they couldn’t get along, the contentiousness between the brothers made for some of the best music of the last 25 years, with Oasis realizing the dreams they never dared think would come true lacing together most of the the album Definitely Maybe.

Oasis's Definitely Maybe. In the summer of 1995 I caught a bus to Bromley, aiming for the HMV in the Glades shopping centre. I knew exactly what I was going to do. On the strength of their brilliant debut single I've Got a Little Something for You, I was going to purchase MN8's To the Next Level, and I was going to love it. I listened to it on my Discman on the bus home. By the end of the journey, I knew I'd been done. That night I listened to the album on repeat. The thick, reverb-heavy guitar with Liam snarling over it on Rock 'N' Roll Star and Cigarettes & Alcohol. The soppy, hopeful romaticism of Slide Away and Live Forever. As an 11-year-old middle class Jewish Londoner this was everything I didn't know, but was certain that I should. I wanted to be an angry rock'n'roll star who was into booze and fags and had a girl with whom he was going to live forever.

Definitely Maybe is the debut studio album by the English rock band Oasis, released on 29 August 1994 by Creation Records. It was an immediate commercial and critical success in the UK, having followed on the heels of singles "Supersonic", "Shakermaker" and "Live Forever". It is their only full album to feature original drummer Tony McCarroll.
