The Ed Sullivan Show was an American television variety show that ran on CBS from June 20, 1948, to June 6, 1971, and was hosted by New York entertainment columnist Ed Sullivan. It was replaced in September 1971 by the CBS Sunday Night Movie. In 2002, The Ed Sullivan Show was ranked on TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time. In 2013, the series finished No. 31 in TV Guide Magazine's 60 Best Series of All Time.

Motown Gold' is a three volume compilation on two discs with acts appearing on the Ed Sullivan Show back in the Sixties. Also appearing are such acts as The Temptations, The Four Tops, Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, Gladys Knight and The Pips, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and Martha and the Vandellas. The Jackson 5, with a very young Michael Jackson fronting, appear once in each of the volumes, which as I understand, is about three more times than you'll see Michael Jackson mentioned in an upcoming CBS special on the Motown years scheduled for later this year (2019).
