Where the Streets Have No Name (I Can't Take My Eyes off You), How can you expect to be taken seriously?" . Jealousy" is a song originally written in 1982 by the Pet Shop Boys, recorded for their 1990 album Behaviour. In 1991, it was released in a slightly remixed form as a single, which appears on both Pet Shop Boys' greatest hits albums. It has also been covered by the British band Dubstar, and was sung by Robbie Williams at the 2006 Pet Shop Boys' BBC Radio 2 concert at the Mermaid Theatre, a recording of which was released on the Pet Shop Boys' live album Concrete.
Discography, a collection of the Pet Shop Boys’ hit singles from West End Girls to the forthcoming Was It Worth It?, was released on November 4, 1991. Only six of the eighteen songs have previously appeared on an album in their single versions. At the same time a video compilation, Videography, is also released. Where the streets have no name (I can't take me eyes off you). Behaviour/Further listening: 1990-1991 (2018 remastered). Very/Further listening: 1992–1994 (2018 remaster). Bilingual/Further listening: 1995-1997 (2018 remaster). Please/Further listening: 1984-1986 (2018 remaster).
Фирменный стиль Pet Shop Boys в немалой степени ассоциируется с визуальными образами, которые музыканты представляли в своих ярких, эффектных клипа. Песня тоже почти попурри - кавер сразу на две композиции: "Where the Streets Have No Name" от U2 и старенький хит "I Can't Take My Eyes off You" Фрэнки Валли. 1 место: Go West (1993) Go West - это безумная компьютерная графика, наполненная советской символикой и коммунистическим пафосом, а сама песня напоминает гимн со словами "Идем на Запад!".
In songwriting circles, "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" is a case study on how to built intensity. Getting from the tender verses to the explosive chorus required a creative transition to avoid a train wreck, and Bob Gaudio found the solution in horns, which bridge the gap without losing momentum. Notably, Lauryn Hill's rendition doesn't use horns in the transition - she gets there with a mix of organ and vocal stabs. Gaudio was impressed. The Lettermen ( 1968 - in a medley with "Goin' Out Of My Head") Nancy Wilson ( 1969) Gerri Granger ( 1975) Pet Shop Boys ( 1991 - in a mashup with "Where The Streets Have No Name") Lauryn Hill ( 1998). One of Valli's frequent backup singers was Linda November, who married Artie Schroeck, who arranged this song.
