Lloyd Webber studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London Andrew Lloyd Webber was born in Kensington, London, the elder son of William Lloyd Webber (1914–1982), a composer and organist, and Jean Hermione Johnstone (1921–1993), a violinist and pianist. His younger brother, Julian Lloyd Webber, has had a notable career as a solo cellist. Lloyd Webber started writing his own music at a young age, a suite of six pieces at the age of nine.
John Mark Ainsley, who was originally scheduled to appear in this concert alongside the Nash Ensemble, is unfortunately no longer able to perform. The LSO is very grateful to Ben Johnson for stepping in to sing a different selection of songs by Bruch and Vaughan Williams’ On Wenlock Edge in his place. In 2016 John Mark Ainsley was diagnosed with Leukaemia. Fortunately this was an early diagnosis and with ongoing treatment the prognosis for his general health is very good

There are also "Five Songs" for tenor ad piano, performed by John Graham-Hall and Philip Ledger and the beautiful "Missa Sanctae Mariae Magdalenae" performed by Richard Hicksox and his singers.
