The Cunning Little Vixen is an opera about the contrast between chained human lives and the freedom of nature. When it regains its freedom at the end, no matter how briefly, it understands how a fox’s life should be. Leoš Janáček was adept at setting stories of tragic human fates to music but also showed a warm and understanding approach to nature. The Cunning Little Vixen is an insightful fairy-tale opera about the contrast between chained human lives and the freedom of nature. Recommended for children over the age of 9. Ovela kettu. The Cunning Little Vixen is a performance suitable for everyone: it is clever and emotional, beautiful and playful. director Immo Karaman.

Cunning Little Vixen has been added to your Cart. Comparing the fine recordings of Leos Janacek's 1924 opera "The Cunning Little Vixen" made by Simon Rattle and Charles Mackerras has been a rewarding experience and one that highlighted for me the differences between a very good interpretation and a great one. I started by listening to Simon Rattle's 1990 EMI recording of "Vixen" sung in English. This is a very successful recording headlined by British coloratura Lillian Watson as the Vixen and Thomas Allen as the forest groundkeeper.
