Notes

The Urban Music Box is the first more widely published PNFA album (after the trance album Somewhere Safe that is not going to be republished anymore). Sticking basically to a driving and dark Prodigy-like style this longplayer combines jungle and breakbeat elements with straight forward going basslines but not lacking a good load of athmospheric mellow vibes and beautiful clear melodies. Sometimes it is fast right going into the listeners body, sometimes it even moves into a more loungey triphop athmosphere for the mind - never being shy and open to experiments with vocals and sound programming. A complete and homogeneous work from the beginning to the end.

I am the proud owner of this extremely rare CD.I love the constant atmosphere reigning through the whole album.Imagine the follwowing situation. You look out of the window with a view over the city, it's raining and windy, the sky is dark grey and clouds are moving fast. It's sinister but beautiful at the same time, especially overnight and/or with lightnings. Then, play "New York Fairytale" and you'll understand what I mean."The Urban Music Box" wears its name perfectly, and is definitely both grim and gorgeous. A magnificent experience that you won't find in any other album. Then, I love the 303s of "Past Perfect" as well, perfect to chill out, and thirdly the huge beats and those notes of "Stubbed" are a hell of an intro. And the other songs keep this spirit to create a 52-minutes long masterpiece. However, according to the back cover, this first album from PNFA was recorded in 1998 instead of 1996 as mentionned up here on Discogs. If you desire to expand your big beat/breakbeat collection, just jump on this pearl at the earliest opportunity. This album has now a special place in my heart, forever.
