picket line synonyms, picket line pronunciation, picket line translation, English dictionary definition of picket line. n. A line or procession of people picketing a place of employment or otherwise staging a public protest. The soldiers forming the picket line, like showmen exhibiting a curiosity, no longer looked at the French but paid attention to the sight-seers and grew weary waiting to be relieved.
