20/20 is the 15th studio album by American rock band the Beach Boys, released on February 10, 1969. The LP was named for being their 20th overall album release. Much of it consists of outtakes from earlier albums. It reached number 3 on UK record charts and number 68 in the US. Brian Wilson was absent during most of the album's recording after admitting himself into a psychiatric hospital, requiring brothers Carl and Dennis to retrieve several outtakes he had recorded years earlier.

But Best of the Beach Boys, Vol. 2 ranges a bit further than its predecessor.

I think that the Beach Boys sound was developing right along. I had developed a sixth sense for everybody's voices. Released in late June 1968, 'Friends' found the Beach Boys settling in after the many conflicts that derailed the making of their epic 'Smile' album. Smiley Smile' came first, but it was more of a bunt than a grand slam. With 'Friends,' the group crafted an inviting album full of terrific songs. Sessions for the record had started in February at Wilson's home studio

Shut Down Vol. 2 (2001 - Remaster). Toshiba-EMI just released it on CD in Japan. The SHUT DOWN album went Top Ten, and this annoyed The Beach Boys no end, as they felt that they were being exploited. After releasing their own collection of hot-rod music (Little Deuce Coupe (Mono & Stereo Remasters)) in late 1963, SHUT DOWN, VOLUME 2 was the follow-up.
