August 13, 1987 (1987-08-13). Panic Zone" is the debut single by American hip hop group . The song is also the second single off the compilation album . and the Posse, which was a reissue of 12" EPs and singles released by Macola Records, the then manufacturer and distributor of Ruthless Records, . Despite its independent release, the tape has sold over 1,000 copies. The single introduced rap artists Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Krazy Dee, and Arabian Prince. Apart from the title track and "8 Ball", the record also included "Dope Man", a song about a local drug.

The songs '8-Ball' and 'Dope Man' are both great-but they're definitely done in the style that people tend to think of when they think of late '80s-era West Coast gangsta rap. The first cut on the A side, however, is completely different. Panic Zone' is one of the best electro hip-hop jams you'll ever hear. Dr. Dre was fresh from his work with the World Class Wreckin' Cru, with whom he had produced some classic West Coast electro-funk jams that were 180 degrees removed from the gangsta rap for which he would become known.

The dope man's got plenty To be a dope man, boy, you must qualify Don't get high off your own supply From a key to a g it's all about money 10 piece for 10 base, pipe comes free And people out there are not hip to the fact If you see somebody getting money for crack, he's the. Dopeman, dopeman! Hey man give me a hit Dopeman, dopeman! Yo man fuck that shit Dopeman, dopeman! We just can't quit Dopeman, dopeman! . You're robbing and stealing, bugging and illing While the dope man's dealing What is killing your pain, cocaine, this shit's insane Yo, E, she's a berry, let's run a train. Man, I wouldn't touch that bitch. Me neither; Ho, go home and wash out your beaver And niggas out there messing up people's health Yo, what the fuck yo gotta say for yourself?
