New Age of Earth is a solo album by Manuel Göttsching. While originally released under Göttsching's name and Ash Ra Tempel in 1976, the releases that followed in 1977 and onward were under the name Ashra. It was the first album to be released under the name Ashra. Although a solo album by Manuel Göttsching recorded after the dissolution of his band Ash Ra Tempel, Ashra later evolved into a full band. It was released in 1976 on Isadora Records.

Manuel Göttsching was born in Berlin on September 9th, 1952. In December 1976, Manuel played his first solo concert tour for the release of New Age of Earth in France. 1977 Ash Ra Tempel became Ashra. This was a break with the past; a new beginning. In 2007, Göttsching released his 33rd album "Live at Mt. Fuji" and his first DVD "Wroclaw Live" (check out the trailer), both featuring the concerts he played with video artist Kinga in Japan and in Poland, 2006. He performed again live to . Manuel Göttsching is probably best known for E2-E4, the groundbreaking solo album he recorded in under an hour at his Berlin studio in 1981. Released in 1984 and first championed overseas by the influential New York club DJ Larry Levan, E2-E4 was omnipresent on dancefloors during the late 1980s, when it was given a second life by remixers Sueño Latino. It can credibly claim to be the first electronic dance music album. And it continues to fascinate: Göttsching will give a live performance of the piece in London this March as part of Convergence festival.
