Danny & the Juniors are an American doo-wop and rock and roll vocal group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania originally consisting of Danny Rapp, Dave White, Frank Maffei and Joe Terranova. Formed in 1955, they are most widely recognized for their 1957 hit single "At the Hop". Danny Rapp (lead), Frank Maffei (2nd tenor), Joe Terranova (baritone) (aka Joe Terry), and Dave White Tricker (1st tenor) (aka Dave White) met at John Bartram High School and started singing together in the mid 1950s

Danny & the Juniors soon followed up with "Rock and Roll Is Here to Stay," another White-penned rocker, which also made the Top 20. The group toured with several of Alan Freed's traveling rock & roll shows and put two more songs into the Top 40. In the early '60s the group switched over to the Swan label and after their last song charted in 1963, Danny & the Juniors eventually parted ways. The co-founder of the 1950s doo-wop group Danny & the Juniors penned their big singles and then teamed to write hits for Lesley Gore and others. As the Juvenaires in the mid-’50s, White, Danny Rapp, Joe Terranova and Frank Maffei performed at local events in the Philadelphia area. White and Madara, then a local producer, wrote a song called Do the Bop, which the Juvenaires recorded. Singer took the song to an influential local disc jockey, and soon-to-be host of American Bandstand, Dick Clark.
