In the 1950s, the album charts were dominated by easy listening singers like Bing Crosby and endless musicals, records that only have niche audiences now. But so many top LPs from the 1960s continue to enthrall old and new listeners, and they're still re-discovered and re-assessed. This list is Pitchfork’s attempt to do just that. His crawl through the standard Hang Me, Oh Hang Me is almost oppressively intimate, its spare fingerpicked guitar and slow-pooling croon as stifling as the solitude he’s succumbing to. His soulful yet chatty pass through Cocaine Blues brings a modern sheen to the addict’s tale, rivaling Dylan’s reedier, less convincing turn.
The first album Slick recorded with Jefferson Airplane was Surrealistic Pillow, and Slick provided two songs from her previous group: her own "White Rabbit" and "Somebody to Love", written by her brother-in-law Darby Slick .
When the yboardist/vocalist recorded four albums for Philadelphia International in the late ’70s, he made certain that all of them were diverse and unpredictable. True to form, Wansel keeps listeners guessing on 1979’s Time Is Slipping Away, which was the last of the four. Excellent soul album, somewhat overlooked by fans of this genre, because it was created by an artist associated only with the blues scene. His version of Hey Girl is one of the best ever. A hard-to-find Blue Note album from soul jazz piano master Gene Harris!
In 1988, he co-founded the Traveling Wilburys, a rock supergroup, with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne. Orbison died of a heart attack in December 1988 at the age of 52. One month later, Orbison's song "You Got It" (1989), co-written with Lynne and Petty, was released as a solo single and became his first hit to reach the . Top 10 in nearly 25 years. Orbison's honors include inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in the same year, and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1989. Orbison was now able to move to Nashville permanently with his wife Claudette and two sons Roy DeWayne and Anthony King. Back in the studio, seeking a change from the pop sound of "Only the Lonely" and "I'm Hurtin'", Orbison worked on a new song, "Running Scared", based loosely on the rhythm of Ravel's Boléro; the song was.
He’s now focused on regaining the ability to walk for Poppy and his other children, and is set to be released from the rehab center in August. The kids have given me the strength to get better, he told SWNS. I can’t wait to go home now. I just want to be home with my children.
He got it with the self-described "punk funk" of "Super Freak," from his breakthrough album, Street Songs. James enlisted the Temptations for background vocals. The song got a second life when MC Hammer jacked it for the 1990 megasmash "U Can't Touch This. Appears on: Street Songs (Motown). The first hit for an ex-Beatle, it features Harrison's teardrop slide licks and a melody virtually identical to the Chiffons' "He's So Fine. It made me so paranoid about writing," Harrison said. I thought, 'I don't even want to touch the guitar, in case I'm touching somebody's note.

The lyrics go something like. It's so sad you don't know how I got this love, I (for)got to mention, it's so sad you can't tell, that I'm starving in your hands for a little attention. I can light myself on fire, but I'm sure I'd probably burn to the ground. Esther 25 June 2019 Reply. Mad World - gary jules?
