Shades is the sixth album by J. J. Cale, released in 1981. After years of living and recording in Nashville, Cale relocated to California in 1980 and lived in an Anaheim trailer park but continued working with longtime producer Audie Ashworth. Shades, which continued Cale’s tradition of giving his albums one word titles, was recorded in various studios in Nashville and Los Angeles.

Never miss another show from Jazzville. Jazzville is a weekly show on WGOT-LP 10. FM in Gainesville, FL, featuring a wide variety of jazz music, from the classics to the newest releases. Friday nights from 6-7pm.

Jazzville has enjoyed swinging American Jazz standards at the Grove Park Inn, the Biltmore Estate, Asheville Ballroom, White Horse of Black Mountain and the Altamont Theater of Asheville, North Carolina. The band’s affinity for American music from the 1920’s to 1940′s has resulted in several additional invitations. Jazzville's bassist, Zack Page, has been performing as a professional bassist since the early ’90s. His work with various jazz ensembles, theater companies, and the cruise industry has taken him to all 50 . States, the Caribbean islands, Australia, South America, Europe and the Far East. Their pianist, Patrick Boland, happily teaches and composes in his studio overlooking the Swannanoa River and occasionally performs in the area. One of his main focuses today is co-writing with his wife the children’s audio adventure series, Adventures in Sonoris.
