Since the mid-1970s two Matadors tracks were also repeatedly unofficially released in Germany under the name Steve Cannings. In the 2000s the group has partially reunited, still occasionally performing as a special guest of Radim Hladík’s The Blue Effect as of 2010.
The Matadors performed exclusively in East Germany until April 1966, their live repertoire consisted mostly of cover versions from popular beat groups like The Who, The Kinks or The Small Faces. Between 1966 and 1968 Supraphon released two Matadors singles and two EPs, another two tracks appeared on an album compilation.
The 1966 Live Recordings is a 36-CD boxset of live recordings from the 1966 Live Tour by Bob Dylan, released on Legacy Records in November 2016. It includes every known recording from the tour, including audience tapes. Most of the set was unreleased at that point and some tapes never circulated before.
Live at El Matador is a live performance album by pianist Vince Guaraldi and guitarist Bola Sete, released in 1966 through Fantasy Records. It is their final recorded collaboration. In 2000, it was issued on CD coupled with Vince Guaraldi, Bola Sete and Friends. Jim Easton – engineering, recording. Vince Guaraldi – piano. Wally Heider – mastering. Fred Schill – design.

The Matadors were led by fifth-year head coach Sam Winningham. They played home games at Birmingham High School in Van Nuys, California. They finished the season with a record of two wins, seven losses and one tie (2–7–1, 0–5 CCAA). The Matadors were outscored 260–152 over the season. California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) was officially known as California State Polytechnic College, Kellogg-Voorhis from 1966 to 1971. However, it was more commonly known as Cal Poly (Pomona). San Diego State University was known as San Diego State College from 1935 to 1971.
