Robert Lawrence Welch Jr. (August 31, 1945 – June 7, 2012) was an American musician who was a member of Fleetwood Mac from 1971 to 1974. He had a successful solo career in the late 1970s. His singles included "Hot Love, Cold World", "Ebony Eyes", "Precious Love", "Hypnotized", and his signature song, "Sentimental Lady". Welch was born in Los Angeles, California, into a show business family

Bob Welch is the fifth solo album from the ex-Fleetwood Mac guitarist of the same name. It was his first for RCA Records. The album has since been reissued on CD by BMG Japan (in 2001) and in 2012 by Wounded Bird Records. When asked in an interview to promote his Bob Welch Looks at Bop album, Welch was asked if there were any songs he disliked recording, and Welch described one from this album.

The late Bob Welch's fifth solo album was recorded somewhat under duress. He admitted in a 1999 interview that he wouldn't have chosen the songs on the album that, ultimately, appeared on them but did so to appease his new label. For an album that began under such circumstances, it's surprisingly good. The Wounded Bird label has released the album on CD in a very good sounding reissue. Bob Welch's self-titled album is just outstanding from start to finish! Glad this one was re-released! What fantastic performances all around and excellent production!
