Bootleg Slim Junior Kimbrough defies all expectations. This is heavy, mystic Blues. I consider it a miracle anyone recorded him at all. His music is essential. You Better Run is the first career-spanning collection by Junior Kimbrough, one of the most influential and original blues players in the past 50 years. Hailed by U2's Bono and Iggy Pop as a primal force in blues music, Junior never reached the mass audience that he deserved while alive, but his music endures, and continues to be discovered by music fans from all walks of life. The music is dark and vibrant, the sex nasty, the nights late and messy, and women not to be trusted. ★★★★) - Arion Berger, Rolling Stone. released July 23, 2002. blues country blues hill country blues juke joint blues Hudsonville. Fix in Music Library. Fans of this Mississippi hill country blues patriarch who've been put off by his previous two albums, the hip-hop remix set Come On In and last year's trip-hip experiment, Wish I Was in Heaven Sitting Down, will enjoy this time capsule recorded in 1982 and 1967. It's Burnside in the raw, playing solo on acoustic guitar as he did for his neighbors for most of his early career-when farming was still his profession. I love all of R. L. Burnside's music. He was so far ahead of his time and a truly original talent! Hearing just his inventive acoustic guitar and his great voice is a surefire cure for my blues any time!
