Fossils of this genus date to the Late Jurassic period, where they are found in Kimmeridgian to early Tithonian aged strata, between 155 and 150 million years ago, in the western United States and Portugal

Stegosaurus' eponymous debut doesn't lumber like their namesake, but it nevertheless has a mighty roar. Like many post-grunge hard rock outfits, the group draws equally from classic metal and grunge, but they have greater ambition than most of their contemporaries. Taking their cue from Nirvana and Soundgarden (whose Matt Cameron plays percussion here), the trio wants to make literate hard rock with artistic inclination.
