Sculpture's Tapebox label resurfaces from the matrix with another highly collectable curveball form the music/design/art project. This latest window into the minds of Dan Hayhurst (media devices, electronic instruments) and Reuben Sutherland (video zoetrope turntable, animation, optix) has spun out 'Nearest Neighbour' a comic book and audio cassette that according to the duo may or may not be heard and viewed simultaneously. Picking up nicely where the projects essential 2014 album Membrane Pop (released via Oneohtrix Point Never's Software label) left off, Nearest Neighbour takes us on a tour of vastly selective bubbling electronics and time stretched techno that sounds like its made out of plasticine. Seemingly morphing into new and otherworldly shapes with every second that floats by.

Nearest Neighbour is a comic book and audio cassette/digital album that may or may not be heard and viewed simultaneously. The sounds might be a key to decoding the wordless world propagating through the pages of the book, but this is only a theory. A peculiar logic is at work but is this a mystic journey or a catalogue of fabric designs and carpets? lossless isra.

It’s been a minute since Sculpture inaugurated their Tapebox label with a reminder of how cool (ooh, pretty colors!) picture discs can look, and now the London-based opto-musical agglomerate are at it again with something new on which we can frothily feast our eyes and ears. Their inaugural picture disc was followed by a couple of additional releases on Tapebox, and Sculpture also had a stint with Oneohtrix Point Never’s Software label before Daniel Lopatin tragically decided to shutter things without needed (for the well-being of our emotional state) elaboration

Watch Sculpture's Nearest Neighbour. The experimental audiovisual duo’s new animation draws scenes from their recent graphic novel. Sculpture are London based video artist Reuben Sutherland and electronic composer Dan Hayhurst. The duo recently released Nearest Neighbour as a cassette album accompanied by a graphic novel. The project materialises our feelings about our environment being hyper-developed by economic and algorithmic agents, stimuli overload, says Hayhurst, and we are trying to use that as a vehicle to travel elsewhere
