El silencio (The Silence) is the third studio album by Mexican rock band Caifanes, released on May 29, 1992. It was produced by Adrian Belew. This is the last Caifanes album to feature bassist Sabo Romo and ist Diego Herrera. All tracks written by Saúl Hernández, except where noted. Saúl Hernández - vocals, electric guitar. Sabo Romo - electric bass, acoustic guitar. Diego Herrera - keyboards, saxophone, percussion, jarana. Alfonso André - drums, percussion.

During the mid-'80s, Cecilia Toussaint worked as a radio station announcer, she also played roles in popular soap operas. After joining a group called Abril, the singer/actress decided to create her own project, named Arpía, recording a self-titled album in 1985. Helped by Chilean producer Carlos Narea and after her performance at Rockotitlán, a local rock festival, label executive Tomás Muñoz signed her up to Sony Music, releasing En Esta Ciudad in 1987, followed by 1990's Tírame Al Corazón, produced by Ronnie Foster in the .
