30 Greatest Hits is a 1985 Aretha Franklin's compilation album. The album chronicles majority of Franklin's hit singles during the Atlantic Records era from 1967 up to 1974. Following Franklin's death, the album entered the top ten of the Billboard 200 albums chart at number seven, in the week ending on August 25, 2018. It climbed one spot higher on the following week, becoming Franklin's highest-peaking compilation album in the United States. Disc 1. "I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)".
Aretha Franklin's voice is an instrument of such exquisite expression that it has been matched but a few times in the 20th century. Borrowing from jazz, soul, R&B, rock, pop, and, of course, gospel-and accompanying herself on piano-she created an artistic vision that was wholly realized. Hits includes most of her chart singles from those incomparable Atlantic years, from "Respect" in 1967 well into the '70s, as well as noncharting classics like "Do Right Woman" and "Dr. Feelgood. Nothing but some of her greatest hits. The bad news: you'll need to check out some of her other songs in other collections, like the Sparkle album, her Columbia jazz stuff-which isn't bad as some might think-Columbia just didn't let Aretha be Aretha, thankfully Atlantic fixed that issue once she started to work for them in 1967. 5 starts just for this collection of songs alone.

Aretha Franklin’s 1985 album 30 Greatest Hits shot to No. 7 on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week, just four days after her death from pancreatic cancer in Detroit. As Billboard reports, the album moved 35,000 copies this week, with the vast majority coming on August 16, the day of her death. Considering August 16 was the final day of the tracking week, it seems likely that the album will chart even higher next week. The greatest hits collection includes many of Franklin’s most well-known songs, like Respect, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, and I Say a Little Prayer

30 Greatest Hits re-enters the chart at No. 7 with 35,000 units earned in the week ending Aug. 16 (with 13,000 of that sum in album sales). The Hits package is up 13,048 percent in units earned, while the album’s sales soared 12,693 percent. The album’s surge comes largely from one day of reaction to Franklin’s passing, as she died on the final day of the tracking week. In turn, we’ll likely see further gains next week following the first full chart tracking frame after her death. Franklin has gone as high as No. 2, twice, with I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You (1967) and Aretha: Lady Soul (1968). 30 Greatest Hits was released in 1985 but didn’t chart until 2012, when it spent two weeks on the list (then-peaking at No. 117).
