The surprise success of Beauty and the Beat meant that the Go-Go's were expected to remain hitmakers, so perhaps it shouldn't have come as a surprise that their second album, Vacation, is a considerably slicker affair than their debut. Sporting a glossy yet alluring finish, the album has an appealing, radio-ready sound, but it's at the expense of the giddy sense of fun that made Beauty and the Beat such a vibrant record. However, Vacation is far from a washout. Although half the album is padded with filler, the very best moments are terrific pop songs, highlighted by the bouncy. Get Up and Go. Charlotte Caffey, Jane Wiedlin.

Go-Go Heavy Metal RoadRock! 733. 108. Here's a little Go Go's unplugged on the tour bus, taken yesterday. When the Go-Go’s are called a punk band a lot of that is contextual. They came up in a punk scene that allowed people that weren’t good players to get onstage and say they were in a band because the punk attitude was Hey, we can do this too. Screw you. We can do whatever we want. That was the ethic, the context, that was what defined them as a punk band. There was nothing real rebellious about the Go-Go’s ever. It wasn’t anything revolutionary. It wasn’t the Sex Pistols, let’s put it that way.

PEOPLE has the exclusive premiere footage of The Go-Go's first concert in six years, featuring original members Charlotte Caffey, Belinda Carlisle, Gina Schock, Kathy Valentine and Jane Wiedlin. Charlotte Caffey, Belinda Carlisle, Gina Schock, Kathy Valentine and Jane Wiedlin. While The Go-Go’s infectious ’80s pop music sets the show’s score, the musical will actually feature a brand new story.
In those venues, the Go-Go's sang their demo version of the early single "We Got The Beat" and were spat on - a practice known as "gobbing. I remember coming off crying and covered in snot," she said. It was lonely and it was dangerous, five little white girls from southern California being thrown in with all these hard-core skinheads. Carlisle recalls in the memoir struggling to get signed to any record label, with executives believing all-female bands wouldn't sell. She struggled with the drug for decades through her later solo career, which began after the Go-Go's broke up in 1985. Her solo hits included "Mad About You," "Heaven is Place on Earth," "Leave a Light On" and "Summer Rain. But she gave up after a pivotal moment hallucinating in a hotel room.
