Black Dyke Band, formerly John Foster & Son Black Dyke Mills Band, is one of the oldest and best-known brass bands in the world. The band has won many prizes and competitions over the years. In 2014, the band won the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain for a record 23rd time, and the British Open Championship for another record 30th time. They have also won the European Championships a record thirteen times, most recently in 2015. It was formerly the band of the Black Dyke Mills in Queensbury, West Yorkshire, England, a company owned by John Foster. She was a member of the Cults Percussion Ensemble, formed in 1976 by local musical educator Ron Forbes. They toured and recorded one album, which was re-released on Trunk Records in 2012.

George Hamilton Green. The backing by the Black Dyke Band is wonderfully brassy and sonorous. My only reservation is that I would have liked more varied percussion, and not just xylophone - after a while, it becomes like a meal composed entirely of your favourite ice cream. Versatility and quality are the hallmarks of Evelyn Glennie and this album lives up to this reputation. She shows tenderness and aggression in equal measures to provide a well balanced programme. I especially like the short Keiko Abe "Cherry Blossoms" and the two Marimba pieces by Toshimitu Tanaka both make sublime listening.
