Schubert: Symphony N. In B Minor, . 59 - "Unfinished" - 1. Allegro moderato. Schubert: Symphony N. 6. 59 - "Unfinished" - 2. Andante con moto. Like Kleiber's interpretations of Beethoven, Brahms, Weber and other romantics, the Schubert here is anxious, sensitively phrased, and immensely passionate. There is not much lingering-Kleiber insists on forward-flowing tempi. Yet Kleiber understands how to handle everything in a way that communicates naturalness, the antipode of today's academic sterility, and the effect is magnificent. The fact that this man never recorded the Eroica or even one Mozart opera is a tragedy that I think people still feel in their bones. What else to say? This is a must-own disc.
L. Beethoven ~ Beethoven: Symphony No. 5 In C. Product details. Orchestra: New York Philharmonic. Conductor: Leonard Bernstein. Composer: Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert. It is Sony's sneaky way to cram two symphonies into one CD. - Schubert's 'Unfinished' Symphony is merely a filler. There are better options to consider (such as Giulini's 1978 recording with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra).
Beethoven: Symphony No. 3 "Eroica"; Schubert: Symphony No. 8 "Unfinished". BBC Music Magazine 31D. CD.
Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 8 in B minor, D 759 (sometimes renumbered as Symphony No. 7, in accordance with the revised Deutsch catalogue and the Neue Schubert-Ausgabe), commonly known as the Unfinished Symphony (German: Unvollendete), is a musical composition that Schubert started in 1822 but left with only two movements-though he lived for another six years. A scherzo, nearly completed in piano score but with only two pages orchestrated, also survives.
