Youngblood is the third studio album by Australian pop rock band 5 Seconds of Summer. The album was initially set to be released on 22 June 2018, but it was later brought forward to 15 June. In support of the album, the band embarked on the Meet You There Tour.
Youngblood Say you want me, say you want me Back in your life So I’m just a dead man crawling tonight Cause I need it, yeah I need it All of the time Yeah ooh, ooh, ooh. Lately our conversations End like it’s the last goodbye Till one of us gets too drunk And calls about a hundred times. So who you been calling baby? Nobody could take my place When you looking at those strangers Hope to God you see my face. Youngblood Say you want me, say you want me Out of your life And I’m just a dead man walking tonight But you need it, yeah you need it All of the time Yeah ooh, ooh, ooh.
Youngblood is the third studio album from the Australian pop-rock band 5 Seconds of Summer, released on June 15, 2018. The lead single off the album, Want You Back, was released on February 22, 2018. The making of Youngblood was nothing short of an ultimately transformative experience. From their On The Record Apple Music Documentary: Michael: I struggled to see the end vision, like what was meant to look like.
5 Seconds of Summer returned with their first album in three years on Friday (June 15), Youngblood, a 16-track LP that shows growth in both the band's pop-rock sound and their songwriting. This was immediately apparent when the guys released their heart-rending lead single "Want You Back," but that is certainly not the only Youngblood track that hits you right in the feels. Lately our conversations End like it's the last goodbye Then one of us gets too drunk And calls about a hundred times.
Instead, Youngblood goes full pop, leaning into some Eighties inflection and foregoing the bratty, DGAF ethos of their earlier work. The album starts off with its two lead singles: the latter-day Fall Out Boy-esque title track and the undeniably catchy, groovy Want You Back. The rest of the LP edges more towards the breezy heartbreak pop of the latter as opposed to the faux-danger of the former. Songs like Lie to Me, Better Man and Moving Along are highlights, each a power-pop gem with great hooks and even better riffs.
