Band Name Steve Perry. Album Name Street Talk.

Steve Perry does a respectable job in producing the album though, and the overall package comes off rather clean and bright. Street Talk proves that Perry’s song writing and vocal prowess is worthy of its acclaim, but the musicianship that accompanies him throughout the album is noticeably weaker than what he is used to. First appeared on Street Talk (Columbia Records 39334) 1984 Street Talk Tunes, April Music Inc & Random Notes) (Steve Perry, Randy Goodrum). Oh you Broke an old tradition Gave into the flame You tell me I'm the reason You tell me I'm to blame You're sorry for the evenin' But nothin's wrong. It's only love It's only love Oh it's only love Only love. Oh I Don't need this condemnation There's no room for mistakes There's no time for forgiveness It's written on your face But girl I'm only human Oh you should know.

Street Talk' ended up being like his first album in more ways than one - it also found him reuniting with a member of Alien Project, his pre-Journey band in the '70s. I was in a band with Craig Krampf years ago, and Street Talk was gonna be the name of our band," Perry recalled. Schon and Perry weren't alone in their solo pursuits. Drummer Steve Smith started the jazz project Vital Information, and assuaged Perry's fears by pointing out the value of releasing a little creative tension outside the framework of the band. The theory coming from Steve, and I kind of understood it, was that everybody’ll go out and be able to express themselves musically in some other areas, and then when we reconvene, perhaps we will have discovered or found things that we can bring to the group to help the group evolve. And so I thought that was okay," Perry told GQ.

Oh Sherrie" deserves it's chart placing, accentuating Perry's vocal power, especially throughout the explosive chorus.
