The Vines are an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1994. Their sound has been described as a musical hybrid of 1960s garage rock and 1990s alternative rock. The band has been through several line-up changes, with vocalist/guitarist Craig Nicholls serving as the sole constant throughout the band's history.

Craig Nicholls and crew's knack for cranking out sunny pop and abrasive but melodic rock is undeniable, and The Best of the Vines delivers their singles and the tracks that sounded like singles. The collection begins with the big hits ("Get Free," "Ride," and "Highly Evolved"), then shows off some of the Vines' best tangents, like the irrepressibly bouncy "Factory" and the lush balladry of "Vision Valley," "Homesick," and "Autumn Shade. Not to be dramatic, but the Vine app was the best thing to ever happen to me. The Vine app truly understood me and my extremely odd sense of humor. When it was shut down, I felt like a part of me shut down with it. Luckily, I still have the ability to reflect on the good times that I had with Vine.
