Rudoulpho ‎– Sunday Afternoon. Label: Atlantic ‎– 1-0. Sunday Afternoon is an overrated generic Chicago House-formula rhythm track with some Italian jazz touches that elevate it slightly above the tons of repetitive and unimaginative house from this period. Will satisfy a house crowd that wants to hear the same house/Shelter-style beat all night long. Touch Me is another generic formula house/Shelter-style track with clearly identifiable elements of other established records that has no appeal outside of a house crowd that wants to hear the same beat all night long.

Jersey Garage at its highest level! Based on a chord sample from "Kool & The Gang - Summer Madness", used on both sides. Incredible drum pattern construction, loud mix, mental groove. A sought after classic.

repress is out !

As far as boots go, to my ears this sounds clean, warm and full - (not the horrible thin sound you get on some nasty bootlegs). This is pretty easy to get on a cd compilation (I'm too lazy to look it right now), maybe that was used? Anyway, as an affordable way to get this on vinyl, I think this is fine for my needs. I can't compare to the OG pressing as I'm not lucky enough to have one.

Despite the label crediting José Rodriguez @ Sterling Sound for the mastering, I can almost guarantee the runout scribe/ etching makes no reference to José or Sterling. Would anyone care to comment on the sound quality? It's such a shame the original 1992 cut was only released in Italy and given a US test pressing.Cheers.

It was on a big beat records compilation ep as well. Low pressing but decent.

Watch out for the bootleg of this record. Don't slip and pay big bucks for a fake!

'Touch Me' is amazingly similar to Jovonn's 'It’s Gonna Be Right (Original 12” Mix)' on Goldtone Records. Also released in 1992!Still not really sure what the story is there.

good catch! i was wondering why this sounded so familiar.. Jovonn!!!!! he must have been friends with Renato Pearson?? or he was biting jovonns style??

Fantastic piece here, the clarity and balance are truly wonderful on this Italian pressing. Well worth hunting for... A classic of early 90's house.

Definitively "the anthem" of the early Underground Garage music.

"Sunday Afternoon" is considered the classic on here, an elegant, loose, evasive, at times abstract, almost 'lost' post-Larry Heard deep house reverie perfect to end those marathon-dancing-weekends on a late sunday afternoon. Apparently was a regular play at the Loft and Body&Soul, and spinned here and there by the likes of DJ Harvey too.But let's not forget "Touch Me", a sexy 'amateur' soulful vocal quasi hip-house number in the ruff, joyful, spontaneous vein of early Jovonn, still heavily attractive too. To this date, still a high quality and very playable record then.
