Concrete has hurried itself into bloom The mice have forgiven our greed Still you won't kneel to kiss me My lips the only source of water for miles, miles Where's your concern, concern? No love or gum between us, us My concerne. The same dew that falls from my mouth And cause the hairs on my chin to trill Could nourish you, could sustain you Kiss me, or go Kiss me, or go Pretend the floors cracking in the shape of our names It's not a big deal Pretend the dying flowers growing towards us It's not a big deal Pretend me loving

Osteye I was introduced to serpentwithfeet through four ethers and it has become a favourite song of mine. Amazing artist, highly recommend to others. If I had to use one word to describe the album it would be ethereal. metamusichaha Saw him live at Chapel Hill and was amazed.
Josiah Wise (born July 9, 1988), known professionally as serpentwithfeet, is an experimental musician based in Brooklyn, New York. Wise released the EP blisters in 2016 and his debut studio album soil in 2018. Wise was raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He grew up amongst a religious family; his father owned a Christian bookstore and his mother was a choir director. Wise joined the church choir as a child and grew up with classical and gospel music as a primary influence.
Far from a cry for attention, Wise’s look and his musical project serpentwithfeet is the result of self-realization that the best version of himself is a fiercely honest gay man, bringing a voice to all the melancholy and unpalatable aspects of not only his sexuality but his psyche.
blisters is a shadowbox of foregrounds and backgrounds, plainspoken address versus skyward invocation, the injunction of intersecting folk performance styles (spiritual, musical theater, pop R&B) into the sparring tectonic movements of neophytic hyperobjects.
If serpentwithfeet is the future of music, maybe humanity will win after all. This Björk-endorsed singer’s baroque, queer, devastating R&B is the brazenly tender music the world needs right no. At once brazen, confrontational, and disarmingly intimate, soil steps out of blisters’ softer surfaces into territory that feels strikingly visceral. An even split among his gospel roots, classical education, R&B sensibilities, and frank poetry about the agonies and ecstasies of black queer love, soil fashions him as an iconoclast for a cynical digital era, in which earnest, messy vulnerability has become a rarity.
