Enrico Caruso (/kəˈruːsoʊ/; Italian: ; 25 February 1873 – 2 August 1921) was an Italian operatic tenor. He sang to great acclaim at the major opera houses of Europe and the Americas, appearing in a wide variety of roles from the Italian and French repertoires that ranged from the lyric to the dramatic

5 Caruso Sings Verdi. Caruso Sings Verdi was released in 1992 by RCA Records. Questa o quella (Rigoletto). La donna è mobile (Rigoletto). Bella figlia dell'amore (Rigoletto). Amici miei soldati; La rivedrà nell'estasi (Un ballo in maschera). Di tu se fedele (Un ballo in maschera). Che gelida manina (La bohème (Puccini)). O soave fanciulla (La bohème (Puccini)). O Mimì tu più non torni (La bohème (Puccini)). Recondita armonia (Tosca (Puccini)). E lucevan le stelle Tosca (Puccini)). Vesti la giubba (I pagliacci (Leoncavallo)).

The elegant line and controlled passion of Verdi brought the very best from Enrico Caruso. No one - and I mean no one - has ever matched his legato, the silken line and golden tone (I know that's a cliche - I can't help it, it's the one that's right) of Caruso's "Ah si, ben mio," or the same qualities with a slightly darker tone of "Ah, la paterna mano" from Macbeth. The Rigoletto quartet with Tetrazzini and Amato is for my money the best Caruso ever recorded.

Luciano Pavarotti sings Caruso a song romanticizing Enrico Caruso’s last days. Written by Italian singer-songwriter Lucio Dalla. The version sung by Pavarotti sold over 9 million copies, and another version was a track on Andrea Bocelli‘s first international album, Romanza, which sold over 20 million copies worldwide. This song is most probably a way of romanticizing Enrico Caruso’s last days in Sorrento and Naples. Lucio Dalla was a popular Italian singer-songwriter, musician and actor. He also played clarinet and keyboards. Lucio Dalla visited the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria in Sorrento, where Caruso spent the last two months of his life and where he kept intact his books, his photographs and his piano
