The second festival in 1975 was far better advertised by a number of groups due to the re-focusing energies after the previous Windsor festival where the police broke it up.

The Stonehenge Free Festival was a British free festival from 1974 to 1984 held at the prehistoric monument Stonehenge in England during the month of June, and culminating with the summer solstice on or near June 21. It emerged as the major free festival in the calendar after the violent suppression of the Windsor Free Festival in August 1974, with Wally Hope providing the impetus for its founding, and was itself violently suppressed in 1985 in the Battle of the Beanfield, with no free festival held at Stonehenge since although people have been allowed to gather at the stones again.

A two-CD repackaging of two primal Hawkwind collections, 1983's Zones and the following year's This Is Hawkwind, Do Not Panic, both of which brought together a remarkably cohesive smattering of live and studio material dating from earlier in the decade: a late-1980 studio session with newly (and surprisingly!) recruited drummer Ginger Baker, plus concerts at Lewisham Odeon in December. 1980, Stonehenge in June 1984, and Bristol's Colston Hall that same year.

This experimental line-up played at the Stonehenge Free Festival in 1984, which was filmed and release as Stonehenge 8. An appearance at the Canterbury Sound Festival in August 2001, resulting in another live album Canterbury Fayre 2001, saw guest appearances from Lloyd-Langton, House, Kniveton with Arthur Brown on "Silver Machine". The band organised the first of their own weekend festivals, named Hawkfest, in Devon in the summer of 2002. On 21 June 2010, Hawkwind released a studio album entitled Blood of the Earth on Eastworld Records. During and since the Blood of the Earth support tours, Hone's primary on-stage responsibility shifted to bass, while Mr. Dibs moved to a more traditional lead singer/front man role. In 2011, Hawkwind toured Australia for the second time.
