Way Out West is the eponymous debut studio album by English electronic music duo Way Out West. It was released on 1 September 1997 by the since defunct record label Deconstruction Records, and peaked at 42 in the UK Albums Chart that year. The album includes its four singles, "Ajare", "The Gift", "Domination", and "Blue". Although Way Out West began their career in straight-ahead house, the duo works through many different forms on their album debut. Domination" ascends into airy drum'n'bass territory after a mainstream intro, while tracks like "King of the Funk" and "Drive By" get more than a little aggressive, in contrast to the easygoing funk of "Questions Never Answered. Altogether, Way Out West is a varied, engaging debut.

They rose to fame in the 1990s with chart hit "The Gift", and have since released four albums. Originally named Echo, the name Way Out West was coined after one of their remixes. They have produced and performed together for more than sixteen years. They released their eponymous debut in 1997; the album spawned the singles "Blue" (a reinterpretation of the theme from the film Withnail and I), "Domination", "Ajare", and the UK top 15 hit, "The Gift" (which sampled Joanna Law's cover version of "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face").
