I'd almost forgotten about him until being given the 'Iron Giant' soundtrack which includes Jimmie's wonderful 'Honeycomb' (and other great songs from the 1950s). His voice is one of the sweetest I've heard, combining warmth, clarity and subtle passion. The album also was my first introduction to folk classics such as 'Waltzing Matilda', 'Widdicombe Fair' and 'English Country Garden'. Jimmie's approach to folk music was uncomplicated - but in such apparent simplicity lies great beauty - most of all in his wonderful, honeyed vocals. The Crocodile," "Waltzing Matilda," "The Fox & Goose" and "Froggy" are great tunes for children; some of these also were sung by Burl Ives.
