Similar to most previous releases by Wormrot, the songs on Dirge all do not even hit the 2 minute mark, almost as if it were a curse, with the shortest tracks being a mere 4 seconds, true to their grindcore roots. The album opens with No One Gives a Shit, a heavy death metal riff greeting the listener, almost tricking him into thinking that this is going to be a heavier and more serious direction that Wormrot is heading towards. Well, this isn't exactly wrong though the tempo chosen to open the track certainly is uncharacteristic of Wormrot.

Their second studio album, Dirge, was released on 3 May 2011 through Earache Records. The band released an EP titled 'Noise' digitally through Scion AV on 20 September 2011. Wormrot went on an extended US tour in early March and April 2011 and a European tour in August–September 2011. In January 2012, they had toured Indonesia and their last European tour was in June–July 2012

Dirge is the second album from Singaporean grindcore band Wormrot, released back in 2011, and it’s an excellent vitriolic follow up to their previous album Abuse. The oldschool grindcore sound is strong in Wormrot’s music, but they have a huge dose of individuality which really stands them out from the crowd. It’s a powerful performance, violent and angry, with lyrics to match, aggressive and pissed off – from the politically charged assaults, to bursts of pure hatred, the lyrics here are great

On Dirge, Wormrot downplays their death metal influences in favor of a punk rock- and crust punk-indebted sound while staying firm in their metallic roots.
