Elizabeth Taylor was a guest on my chat show Aspel & Company in 1988. She was honest and fun and quite raunchy. Years later she saw me reading the news on TV, thought, ‘That’s my Michael!’, got in touch and we had a drink. She was great company, but sadly died recently aged 99-and-a-half.

What I will learn over the years will be of benefit and interest to me personally but, as far as the program is concerned, I'm the mouthpiece of the viewers as well. One of the experts bought his first piece at the age of four, so they did start very young, most of them. It's like taking over This Is Your Life from Eamonn Andrews - you just open your mouth and hope you sound like yourself. That's all you can possibly do. - Michael Aspel. An astounding thing is that, almost every single week, I have met someone from my past. Issues deals with the issues I had, the fears I had and it isn't a 'nice' album but fears and depressions are not particularly nice. Interleaf is very nice.
