A Certain Ratio (abbreviated as ACR) are an English post-punk band formed in 1977 in Flixton, Greater Manchester by Peter Terrell (guitar, electronics) and Simon Topping (vocals, trumpet), with additional members Jez Kerr (bass, vocals), Martin Moscrop (trumpet, guitar), Donald Johnson (drums), and Martha Tilson (vocals) joining soon after.
If Good Together saw A Certain Ratio translating the acid house ethos through conventional song, Up In Downsville was a sweat drenched return to the heart of the dance floor. Released on Rob Gretton’s plainly named imprint, the LP shuffles through melodic house, slick acid jazz and brooding electro-funk, pulling together the disparate strands of Manchester’s clubland into one infectious whole.

Force (A Certain Ratio album). Force is the fifth studio album by English band A Certain Ratio, released in 1986 by record label Factory. The album spent nine weeks in the UK Independent Chart, peaking at number 2. Force received a mostly positive response from critics.
A Certain Ratio announced details of the next phase of reissues on Mute, acr:mcr and I’d Like To See You Again was released on 23 March with Good Together and Up In Downsville following on 25 May 2018. The reissues are part of the ongoing collaboration with Mute that started with The Graveyard And The Ballroom, To Each and Force.
