I love this album even more than some of the more critically acclaimed ones, because it showcases Townes at his best on each song, none of them are over-produced, which was a sin committed against his music way too often, and includes nearly all of his very best songs. The only one I would dearly love to have seen included here (or on any music recording- I've only seen it on his Live In Amsterdam DVD) was his recording of The Cookoo, with Mickey White accompanying him on guitar. I listen to this more than any other. His songs about deeply felt abstract pain are perfectly constructed and while his voice is not the best in the world, it is very expressive and sad.
