Anima Animus is the third studio album by British duo the Creatures, consisting of Siouxsie Sioux and musician Budgie, released in 1999. The title of the album was inspired by Carl Jung's concept of anima and animus ("the woman inside the man, the man inside the woman"). Recorded in France and England, the album was a departure from previous Creatures works. While still retaining a percussive element, the music had a more urban sound. Upon its release, the record was well received by critics.

The anima and animus are described in Carl Jung's school of analytical psychology as part of his theory of the collective unconscious. Jung described the animus as the unconscious masculine side of a woman, and the anima as the unconscious feminine side of a man, with each transcending the personal psyche.
Anima Animus is the third album to be released by British duo The Creatures (aka singer Siouxsie Sioux and drummer Budgie). The title of the album was inspired by Carl Jung's concept of transgender (the woman inside the man, the man inside the woman). The album was released in 1999. The original title of the album was Gifthorse, then Mount Venus, before the duo changed their minds to finally opt for Anima Animus.

Now that the Banshees are no more, Budgie and wife Siouxsie Sioux have reactivated the Creatures project, this time permanently. The techno revolution has had no real affect on the Creatures' sound since 1989's Boomerang LP, mainly because Sioux and Budgie started mixing tribal drumbeats and electronic treatments way back in 1981. Fans of the Banshees will not be disappointed here, the arrangements are similar to Sioux's old band, and her imagery is still the stuff of bad dreams.

While apart of the Siouxsie and the Banshees, the Creatures provided Siouxsie and Budgie the opportunity to play around with more experimental sounds which may not have fit into the banshees catalougue. The album is a collection of dark atmospheric tracks and a small inclusion of dance (2ND Floor). In places the album goes back to basics, something that the Creatures perform perfectly. An example of this is "Take mine" which includes a simple but addictive drum beat, and mesmorising vocals from Siouxsie.
