Darrell Nulisch (born September 14, 1952, Dallas, Texas) is an American electric blues singer and harmonica player. Prior to his solo career, he was a member of Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets and The Broadcasters. Nulisch's repertoire incorporates soul combined with R&B and Chicago blues, redesigned to complement his distinctive vocals. Nulisch was raised listening to Otis Redding and Al Green. In 1981 he was a founding member of Anson Funderburgh's Rockets and sang with them until 1985

The Whole Truth is Nulisch's second release under his own name. In addition to the leader, it features Joe Moeller (guitar), Bejie Porecki (keys), Steve Gomes (bass), and Robb Stupka (drums). This core group is augmented by the four-piece DC Horns, Ricardo Mouzon on percussion, and three female backup singers. There's nothing feigned about The Whole Truth. In my opinion, Darrell Nulisch stands with Van Morrison and Delbert McClinton as one of our best blue-eyed soul singers, and he's equally adept on harp. Now based in Boston, this singer runs the whole gamut of emotions with his experienced and well-traveled tenor voice. He has also put together a crack band that stays with the song wherever it goes. Be it deep-down Chicago-style blues as on "At-Cha-Mama-Nims," a harmonica-driven instrumental, which he penned with his long time bassist, Steve Gomes ; or the fantastic cover of . Hammond's "There Goes That Train," a slow Southern soul/blues cut that leads off this disc. Nulisch has served his time and his resume is impressive, being the singer both for Ronnie Earl and.

Darrell Nulisch is one of the most soulful vocalists on the blues scene. He's an excellent writer of passionate Southern soul songs and rousing Texas shuffles, and he's a top-notch harmonica player. Originally released in 1998, this is Nulisch's first on Severn Records. Throughout the album, expert, unobtrusive backing is provided by long-time associates Jon Moeller on guitar and Steve Gomes on bass, as well as hired guns The . Horns, keyboardist Benjie Porecki, drummer Rob Stupka and percussionist Ricardo Monzon.
