The rainbow lorikeet (Trichoglossus moluccanus) is a species of parrot found in Australia. It is common along the eastern seaboard, from northern Queensland to South Australia. Its habitat is rainforest, coastal bush and woodland areas. Several taxa traditionally listed as subspecies of the rainbow lorikeet are now treated as separate species (see Taxonomy). Rainbow lorikeets have been introduced to Perth, Western Australia; Tasmania; Auckland, New Zealand; and Hong Kong.

Profile: Electro-acoustical post-rock band based in Sydney, Australia, formed early in 1999 as a home recording project.

Seaworthy is the musical guise of Cameron Webb, who explores guitar-driven ambience awash with environmental sounds.

Look to the Rainbow is a live album by Al Jarreau, released on May 27, 1977 by Warner Bros. It marked a breakthrough for his career in Europe and later also in the US. In 1978 it won the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Performance. In 1976 Jarreau made his first live appearances in Europe, starting with concerts at the jazz festivals in Montreux and Berlin. The following year he began his first tour through 16 cities in Europe starting with a gig at Onkel Pö's in Hamburg.

The Rainbow Lorikeet is a bird common to the Sydney area, where it is loathed by many residents due to its loud shrieking call and its tendency to pass the time in large groups. With the ‘Birds of a Feather’ series, Flaming Pines is achieving precisely that. Seaworthy and Radio Cegeste both prove that listening is learning to listen differently, whether to the transformed shrieks of a neighbourhood nuisance or the speculative silences of the unheard. I can’t help but wonder, however, what birds hear when they listen to us? ww. nvironmentalsounds.

Trichoglossus moluccanus moluccanus. The weight varies from 75 to 157 g (. –5. 5 oz). The plumage of the nominate race, as with all subspecies, is very bright.

Rainbow Lorikeets are very active birds, so they require a good amount of exercise to maintain optimal health. A Lorikeet should be provided with a very large cage so that they have room to climb and fly. Also, a minimum of 3-4 daily hours of supervised, out-of-cage playtime is required for their physical and emotional health. Rainbow Lorikeets as Pets. You won't regret taking the extra time necessary to make the right decision-but jumping into the wrong decision can be devastating.

Notes

The Rainbow Lorikeet is one of Sydney's best known and most colourful birds. Its high pitched calls ring out from urban centres to rural retreats. They are indeed loud birds, as Cameron Webb, the man behind Seaworthy states, ''The racket they make is akin to screaming gangs of teenagers running rampant through the local shopping centre on a sugar fuelled high.''

Because of their noise, their abundance and the fact they like to hang out in gangs, the Rainbow Lorikeet prompts mixed feelings in Sydneysiders. Webb said based his piece on the premise that he hated the birds, but on spending more time with them he found himself reassessing. In his own words:
'' The recordings featured in this track were made early one morning amongst the banksia trees behind a coastal sand dune. There were a lot of birds about and they were noisy. They were also moving about between trees, flying in clusters of dozens of chattering birds. The sound they were generating was swirling and whizzing about and, against the backdrop of ocean drone, created a complex and textured wall of sound. I don’t mind music like this.''
