Walter William Bygraves OBE (16 October 1922 – 31 August 2012), best known by the stage name Max Bygraves, was an English comedian, singer, actor and variety performer. He appeared on his own television shows, sometimes performing comedy sketches between songs. He made twenty Royal Variety Performance appearances and presented numerous programmes, including Family Fortunes.

Album Down The Way. And the Boys Lyrics. It's been days now And you change your mind again It feels like years And I can tell how time can bend your ideas. And the boys go on and on and on and on And the boys go on and on and on and on And there's gold falling from the ceiling of this world Falling from the heartbeat of this girl Falling from the things we should have learned Falling from the things we could have heard. Well, it's been days now And you change your mind again All the cracks in the walls Reminds you of things we said

Singer/songwriter Max Bygraves was enormously popular in postwar England, releasing a steady stream of popular "singalong" records while being widely seen and heard on television, radio, and in the movies. His most famous catch phrase was "I wanna tell you a story!"; his own story is a real-life tale of rags to riches. Walter William Bygraves was one of six children of Battling Tom Smith, a flyweight professional boxer and occasional dockworker, in a rough part of London. His fellow soldiers started calling him "Max," and the name stuck. Bygraves married a WAAF sergeant in 1942, and continued to entertain his fellow soldiers, being asked to perform in larger and larger concerts.

Max Bygraves OBE (born 16 October 1922 - 1st September 2012) in Rotherhithe, London as Walter William Bygraves) is an English singer songwriter, famous for his waving hands. He also appeared on his own television shows, sometimes performing comedy sketches between songs. Shows he presented included the gameshow Family Fortunes. According to the You Need Hands Songfacts, Max went into showbusiness more or less by accident as a comedy impressionist, but later picked up the basics of songwriting.
