Chuck Jackson (born July 22, 1937) is an American R&B singer who was one of the first artists to record material by Burt Bacharach and Hal David successfully. He has performed with moderate success since 1961. His hits include "I Don't Want to Cry," "Any Day Now," "I Keep Forgettin'", and "All Over the World" Contents. 1967: Hold On, We're Coming, with Maxine Brown (Wand WDM-678). 1967: The Early Show, with Tammi Terrell (Wand WDM-682). 1968: Chuck Jackson Arrives (Motown). 1969: Goin' Back to Chuck Jackson (Motown).
Tammi Terrell (born Thomasina Winifred Montgomery; April 29, 1945 – March 16, 1970) was an American recording artist, best known as a star singer for Motown Records during the 1960s, most notably for a series of duets with singer Marvin Gaye. Terrell's career began as a teenager, first recording for Scepter/Wand Records, before spending nearly two years as a member of James Brown's Revue, recording for Brown's Try Me label.
Interestingly enough, Scepter's Chuck Jackson, Tammi Terrell (then Montgomery) and writers Ashford & Simpson ended up at Motown though Shirelles main lead singer Shirley Alston Reeves (who also recorded as "Lady Rose") refused to go with moonlighting Motown VP Barney Ales when she was signed to his Prodigal label and he decided to go back to Motown. Great combination, thanks, but I don't think this is the Shirelles doing the backing. Their version with Doris on lead has exactly the same backing track, and the Shirelles had such a distinctive sound I think other backing singers were used on this. Just my opinion! heyy i sing.
