It has been written they were some kinda demented a capella scum chorale but this tape is most notably not THAT-what it is is 0-fi guitar junk drone and it plays in a raw and involving deliciousness.

Originally released as Sssk this reissue, in co-operation with Dizziness of Freedom, is the last chance to own a physical copy of Death Convention Singers' 2007 recording: Brujas. Brujas was recorded in total darkness and by invitation only. The players were unaware of one another's identities, and multiple players entered and departed during the recording

Death Convention Singers. There is comfort to be had in numbers, even for people like myself who prefer solitude and introversion. The central role that food plays in many cultures, for example, has as much to do with its sharing with friends and loved ones, as it does with the food itself. In the case of the Death Convention Singers, however, the potato salad remains mostly on the table, and the abundant booze spill only occasionally. For despite the heady number of players, they don’t rush headlong into a cacophony of noise like you would expect from a group armed with ten bass guitars, drum kits and a large, no-input mixer setup. There is a sense of respect and camaraderie in this album, and a talent for bringing together disparate musical elements. It also evokes a distinctly arid desert environment, lending it a uniquely natural flavour. Surely this is an excellent entry point to other goings-on in the area.

Names are often put forward for inclusion, but because the club is entirely notional, there is no official membership.

The Les Humphries Singers dissolved at the end of the 1970s. Humphries moved back to Alton, Hampshire in England and later moved to London Contents. The group consisted of a large number of singers of diverse ethnic origin, some of whom such as John Lawton also performed with other groups  .
