Their Lyburnum Wits End Liberation Fly LP was recorded by Les Lentz (who engineered all of their studio recordings) throughout 1988 but was not released until mid-1994, three years after the band's break-up, by Vermiform Records. Moss Icon's third 7", entitled "Memorial", was recorded in January 1991 along with a split LP with Silver Bearing. In 1994 Ebullition Records released the It Disappears LP, compiling songs from "Memorial" with live versions of several songs

Recorded in 1988 but not released until 1994, Lyburnum Wits End Liberation Fly still sounds ahead of its time. The band tempers its breakneck punk with guitar skree and dynamics shaped by British post-punk and goth, without directly tipping a hat to either. Lyrically, the songs take on white, male, American imperialism – "emo" in intensity, but far removed from the self-absorption that defined their contemporaries and followers. Emo took hold of mainstream pop in the early Aughts but one of its brightest acts was veering towards an exit ramp. In a Spin "Trend of the Year" piece on "mainstreamo" for the magazine's 2003 year-end issue Brand New singer and guitarist Jesse Lacey said emo was "becoming like Eighties hair metal all over again. All you can really do is try hard to be one of the bands that does manage to stick.

I'm Back Sleeping, Or Fucking, Or Something. Kicks The Can. Lyburnum Wit's End Liberation Fly. Happy (Unbounded Glory). 1997 Re-Issue Bonus Tracks.

Although Moss Icon recorded their opus, Lyburnum in 1991, it wasn’t released until 1994. It danced in obscurity until scene enthusiasts became aware of its existence and decide to talk it up as one of the cornerstones of the early 90s emo movement. However, to pigeonhole Lyburnum to one genre is a severe injustice. Moss Icon meld and mix a number of influences and sounds into each track. The album progresses from the straight-up punk of Mirror to the epic, psychedelic-infused stoner jam that is Lyburnum Wits End Liberation Fly. The only way to truly define Lyburnum is as absurd.

there's another (previous?) version of the LP w/ a slightly different front cover art and a completely different back. dust sleeve is screened in green ink and there is a green insert. does anyone have more info about that version? added a picture, can take/send more upon request.
