This is an exceptionally slow raag performed by one of India's great sitar maestros, Ustad Vilayat Khan. He is accompanied on tabla by Akram Khan (no relation). According to the liner notes, Khan is trying to project music that is melodically shapeless and largely free from rhythm. This intention is borne out by the recording. In addition he is supposedly imitating a singer.
Akram Khan has accompanied Vilayat Khan, Ravi Shankar, Amjad Ali Khan, Shivkumar Sharma, Hariprasad Chaurasia and other leading Hindustani musicians. Marketplace 8 For Sale. Ustad Vilayat Khan, Akram Khan - Raga Enayetkhani Kanada (CD, Album). Shubhendra Rao, Akram Khan - Raga Marwa (CD, Album).
Ustad Vilayat Khan is a maestro whose synonymy with the sitar is now a fact which the musical world naturally takes for granted. Disc: 1. 1. Raga Bhankar: Alap (38:08) - Ustad Vilayat Khan. 2.
