Karel Krautgartner (July 20, 1922 – September 20, 1982) was a Czech jazz and classical clarinetist, saxophonist, arranger, composer, conductor and teacher. He was born in Mikulov, Moravia, in the family of a postmaster. His family were of Moravian German ethnic which have assimilated into Czech people. In 1930 he began to play piano. In 1935, after moving to Brno, he found interest mainly in the radio broadcasting and specially in jazz.

The orchestra was temporarily renamed to Orchestr Karla Krautgartnera (2) in March 1967 until Krautgartner’s emigration in August 1968. Between 1969–1982 the orchestra was led by Josef Vobruba, who had already been one of the conductors since 1962. From 1983 until 2001, the orchestra was led by Felix Slováček. In the early 1990s the orchestra’s name was changed to Big Band Radio Praha and eventually to Big Band Českého Rozhlasu (BB ČRo), still featuring František Kryka as the longest active member since 1961, and led by Václav Kozel since September 2002 until December 2012. Karel Krautgartner was born in 1922 in Mikulov, Czech Republic in the family of a postmaster. In 1930 he began to play piano, but after moving to Brno in 1935 he found interest mainly in the radio broadcasting and specially in jazz. He began to study clarinet on private basis with Stanislav Krtička and founded the student orchestra Quick band in 1936.

In 1962, Gott released his first single with Supraphon, a duet with the jazz singer, Vlasta Průchová entitled Až nám bude dvakrát tolik (When we are twice as old). Shortly afterwards, in 1963, Gott left the conservatory to continue with private singing In 1967, Gott performed at Midem, the music industry trade fair in Cannes, France, where the applause was measured during every concert.
