The Mirror Conspiracy is the second studio album by American electronic music duo Thievery Corporation, released on April 2, 2000 by ESL Music. All songs on the album were written, recorded and produced by Rob Garza and Eric Hilton, although Pam Bricker contributed vocals to "Air Batucada", "The Mirror Conspiracy" and "Lebanese Blonde". The Mirror Conspiracy is the duo’s best-selling album in the United States, selling over 224,000 units to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

For their second album, THE MIRROR CONSPIRACT, the Thievery Corporation continue their unique blend of dub, hip-hop, world music and general chill. But this album sees them working more with lyrics, as with the sultry French on slickly retro "Le Monde" (which has somewhat of a more upbeat reprise with "Shadows of Ourselves") or the Middle Eastern-tinged "Lebanese Blonde.

Like their debut album, Thievery Corporation's second, The Mirror Conspiracy, is a pleasant album of sublime mid-tempo trip-hop, reminiscent of easy listening groove music, and continually referencing the breezier, atmospheric side of Brazilian, Jamaican, French, and Indian forms. The nocturnal dub-poetry of "Treasures" sets a tone for the bruising basslines and echoey keys throughout the album, and "Lebanese Blonde" is another early highlight, with the graceful vocalese of Pam Bricker framing live sitar by Rob Myers and a Jamaican-style horn section.

Magnificent one from ESL music. Now already 18 years but still it gaves those spectacular cultural sound .. amazing mind journey .The vibes ..the grooves .. the exotic ...the elegancy .. the luxurious ..all these elements that exist from this mirror conspiracy will washed away the crap in life .Level up !

Am after just the A & B side of the original press of mirror conspiracy if anybody can help me out.. bit of a long shot I know !!

I found this LP in my copy of "Echoes of Silence" by the Weeknd, 2015 reissue?
Dammy
Haven't found ONE good copy of any of the first 3 reissues. Terrible.. Can't understand why Thievery would wait SO long to have these reissued, and then give us unplayable garbage...
Sharpmane
I have both original (UK pressing) and reprint which I bought today and I can say that the original is way better. More dynamic sound, more depth. This reissue is not horrible but doesn't come close to the original UK pressing. Shame, I was waiting for that one :( 2 bonus tracks Bario Alto & Guide for I & I
Kanek
Have you heard the 2002 US repress? Any differences? I'm asking because I bought a 2014 reissue and I'm not satisfied with the sound and vinyl quality. Right now I'm hunting those two, UK from 2000 and/or US from 2002. And they cost pretty penny so I would really like to hear some experiences before buying.

Is the reissue worth buying? Are there any issues with the quality of the pressing?
Lanadrta
They must have made another batch then, because i tried several copies of each reissue and all were warped and had awful sound problems
Xanzay
For what it's worth, I think the copy I just snagged sounds fantastic and neither of 2 buddies I asked that also have this reissue have any issues with the sound. I think the bad experiences are disproportionate in these reviews. Screw-ups definitely happened with these TC reissues, but I have found good copies of this one and Richest Man pretty easily.

Warps on every copy i've purchased
ZloyGenii
Wouldn't buy any of the 2014 TC represses unless they are personal must haves. I'm 02 on a solid copy (no warps or surface noise).
Perius
don't buy, terrible pressing....bought all 3 album reissues and 2 are defected with skips and warps.

Another must have album from the Thievery Corporation, similar to the first but with a few more vocals thrown in. Production is tight and the influences are far and wide. You are taken on a trip through Jamaica, France, the Middle East, Brazil, India and maybe 70's China Town on the Pornesque Hong Kong Triad. Great album
Bynelad
What's with the blank design of the CD face side? Makes for an appearance which makes you think that both sides are playable.
RED
Makes it look like a MIRROR. Plus you get the reverse of the label when viewing the back... clever.

For their second album, THE MIRROR CONSPIRACT, the Thievery Corporation continue their unique blend of dub, hip-hop, world music and general chill. But this album sees them working more with lyrics, as with the sultry French on slickly retro "Le Monde" (which has somewhat of a more upbeat reprise with "Shadows of Ourselves") or the Middle Eastern-tinged "Lebanese Blonde." But they seem to spend plenty of time in Brazil, with the percussive workout of "Air Batucada", the blissfully calm "So Com Voce," with vocals by Bebel Gilberto, and the gloriously mellow "Samba Tranquille." They also nod over towards India with the swooning "Indra" and back in time to 70s spy funk with "The Hong Kong Triad." But there's still plenty of dub on "Focus on Sight." And "Tomorrow" ends the album on a bass-heavy sleazy listening dream. I like what I hear in the mirror.

Dub rhythms and lounge atmosphere is the name of the game on this soulful release. While some may prefer instrumental tracks such as "Indra" and "Air Batucada" over songs with lyrics like "Lebanese Blonde" or "So Com Voce" (or vice versa), Theivery Corporation's use of sublime percussion, jazzy instruments, and smokey pads create a feast for the sonic palette any fan of downtempo can enjoy.
