The Black Album is the eighth studio album by American rapper Jay-Z, released on November 14, 2003, by Roc-A-Fella Records. Jay-Z’s eighth studio album was released on November 14, 2003. Hov and Roc-A-Fella Records promoted it as his finale where he would fade in black. Retirement is a recurring theme throughout the songs; and since this was supposed to be Jigga’s last album for each song he used a different flow and rhyme pattern, showcasing his technical ability and perfection he achieved at something, which he later would dedicate a song to. Hov originally had the idea for The Black Album in 1998, and he wanted close friend DJ Premier to produce all of the tracks.

I have listened to this album for more than ten years, and thousands of other electronic/techno-albums. I always return to it. It is - for me - the best techno album/mix ever.

The thick beats of "The Train of Thought" kick off L.S.G.'s THE BLACK ALBUM on the right note, simultaneously driving and spacious, with a nice melodic surge at its midpoint. "Go Fishing," though, is all about the thump, though not without its own twinkle, and "Cellular" goes deep and acidic, which carries into "The Blaxone." "Rotation" hits even harder, and "Freakz" throws in some more electronic trickery to tickle your ears. "Hellfire" isn't as hellish as it name suggests; in fact, it might have some angelic parts to it, while "Deep Blue" does, indeed, go deep. A nice trance journey.

For me this is one of the best albums ever. The entire album is just perfect. Nice good techy music with amazing sounds and incredible depth. Very nice rhythm and enchanting percussions throughout the entire album. Just what i like. Listening to this album is like a journey to me. Takes me away to a good place, gives me a good feeling. Pure class from an excellent artist/producer.

I can't think of anything further except to wholeheartedly agree with extreme prejudice .Personally, I think this is by far Lieb's "Magnum Opus" (forgive me if my Latin is wrong) - by far the most comprehensively fulfilling & complete work. Just pure beauty from beginning to end & every minute twist inbetween. Absolute genius.
