Francesco De Gregori OMRI (born 4 April 1951) is an Italian singer-songwriter. He is popularly known as "Il Principe dei cantautori" ("The Prince of the singer-songwriters"), a nickname referring to the elegance of his lyrics. He is often referred as singer-songwriter and poet, although he prefers to be identified simply as "artist".

A transition album for Francesco De Gregori, Terra di Nessuno finds him hesitating between his cantautore roots and a more rock-oriented sound. No big hits this time but, as customary, at least half the album is excellent. De Gregori's songwriting is becoming more direct as he focuses mostly on themes of social injustice - a trend that will be amplified in Mira Mare 1. 89 and Canzoni D'Amore.
