The most welcome aspect of You Didn't Know I Was Alphabetical is that several of the songs are full-band arrangements; an album with nothing but solo acoustic numbers is difficult to pull off without the songs running together, and it's good that Bond recognized that while recording. Songs like "No Theme Summer (Pastro, PA)" and "You Know the Drill" would be average as bare-bones acoustic, but the addition of percussion and high-pitched oohs and ahhhs do wonders for their appeal

PJ Bond is an American singer and songwriter. He released a full-length solo album, You Didn't Know I Was Alphabetical, in 2009. He has also released a split album - Brother Bones, Baby Bones (2012) - with his brother, Brian, and two extended plays (EPs), 22 April: Vienna, Austria and Ten Degrees and the Floor, both in 2011. Bond’s latest offering, You Didn’t Know I Was Alphabetical, was recorded between January and June of 2009 in a number of NJ and PA locations using a few different computers and programs such as Protools and Cubase. DIY baby! It was mixed by PJ’s brother, Brian Bond, and mastered by Rob Zajac. Black Numbers will be releasing the record on November 10, 2009 in both 12″ and CD formats. There were 300 copies of the LP (100 white, 200 blue) pressed.

PJ Bond is one of the latest singer/songwriters trying to step out of the shadow of the bands they have been a part of. Bond has contributed to bands such as Outsmarting Simon, Communipaw and The Color Fred throughout the years, and released his solo debut Fall, Tonight in 2008. While that record seems to have come and gone without much notice, this hasn’t stopped PJ Bond from continuing to create material and he recently released a follow up effort You Didn’t Know I Was Alphabetical. The vocals on this album are very melodic and laid back, revealing that PJ Bond is just as capable of a vocalist as he is instrumentalist. While he doesn’t necessarily have the same range that some of the other singers out there do, his style still manages to grip listeners right from the beginning. Admittedly, one area where it seems that Bond could use a little work is in the lyrical department.
