With no doubt the best album of U2. The sound, the songs, U2 on his best. Please listen to the whole album. I work for the band from 1987 till 1998 and this was the most complete album start to finish they though they had done since the start. I enjoy all their work and hope they top it one more time. This album is a little known treasure which was rushed by U2, adding a sense of incompleteness to this album. This album showed how far U2 would go out of their comfort zone to create new great music Masterwork or at least it will be seen that way in the future. Even the band themselves are still struggling - why?
The members of U2 are loathe to rest on their laurels - and that permeates every fiber of their being. As they continue to tour the world behind their eighth No. 1 album, we present our picks for the 25 greatest U2 songs. U2's songwriting genius often reveals itself live, when the band members break free from studio formalities and allow emotion to take the wheel. Where the Streets Have No Name" is one of the best album-opening songs ever, the sonic equivalent of a plane taxiing on the runway before liftoff. I was just trying to sketch a location, maybe a spiritual location, maybe a romantic location," Bono said in 1987. I was trying to sketch a feeling.
Best track: "I Will Follow" Random fact: The album cover was reportedly changed in America because either U2 or the record label feared the band would become associated with pedophilia. Pop' was released in 1997 as U2's ninth album. The album so goddamn great that U2 spent an entire decade trying to subvert it.
The album that saw U2 reclaim their place as world’s biggest rock band was also the moment at which they stopped looking forward and started strip-mining their past. 2: Achtung Baby (1991). A U2 publicity shot from Berlin at the time of the release of Achtung Baby. Wash-out alley beckoned for U2 as the decade turned. Pious arena rock was falling from favour, replaced by the tears and blood of grunge and the mopey shaman-pop of The Stone Roses and their peers.
From Boy to The Unforgettable Fire, this list of the best U2 albums is ranked by rock lovers like yo. Since their inception, U2 have been one of the best bands of the '80s, best bands of the '90s and overall one of the best bands ever. Formed in Dublin, Ireland in 1976, U2 had very little practical musical skills, but were able to sign to Island Records by 1980 and subsequently released Boy (1980), October (1981), and War (1983). This U2 discography is ranked from best.
But for me, their third album, War, is THE album . This album reflects their discovery of the country. Their American Dream. It has some of the best rock songs ever composed like Where The Streets Have No Name, I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For and With Or Without You.
